From mythologies we have heard of apsarasu or “Heaven dancers” who perform a seductive dance to entice men. The relationship between these heaven dancers and human beings is unfortunately not mutually beneficial: while those who encounter her enchantments may be satisfied, the aspiration to mother as an apsarasu can never be achieved. This is painting is meant to humanize human feelings of lust and seduction through the portrayal of this dance.
